NEW YEAR’S GOALS

“SMART” GOALS

Sustainable goals are about building habits that are flexible, will fit your lifestyle and will last long-term. The “SMART” Goal system is a good method to follow when creating a sustainable goal.

(S) Specific–Define your goal in detail. Answer the “W” questions, Who, What, Where, When.

(M) Measurable–Determine how you will know when you have achieved your goal.

(A) Achievable–Determine that you are setting a realistic goal. Goals can be challenging, but they should be achievable.

(R) Relevant–Determine that your goal makes sense. Is is worth your time? Will it benefit you and meet your needs?

(T) Time–Establish a time frame for reaching your goal (one week, one month, etc).

–I will exercise for 30 minutes, 3 days per week, for the next 2 weeks.

–I will monitor my blood sugar each morning and record the readings in my journal each day for the next one month.
